 keeping gingerbread

It should not get soggy with royal icing as long as it is not kept in a humid environment.
I keep decorated gingerbread houses wrapped in cellophane bags (not plastic wrap) for many weeks.
I live in Mass. so it is cold and dry right now.
I also keep gingerbread cookies in a foil lined metal cookie tin. Hope this helps.
