why Gingerbread is too tough after baking??

after baking gingerbread it comes too tough and hard to eat , what should i do ?? or how many days should i let them to become soft??

Gingerbread softening tips

There are soft and hard gingerbread recipes, depending on what you plan to do with the cookies. The hard recipes are generally used for building gingerbread houses (so they don't collapse).

Here are some recipes for soft gingerbread cookies (not so great for house-building, but delicious):

If you've already baked your gingerbread though and it's harder than you'd like, you CAN make it a little softer for eating. I wrap mine in a damp paper towel and heat in the microwave for a few seconds.

Basically, humidity is the enemy of hard gingerbread (a problem we hear about often on this site - when gingerbread houses collapse from their own weight), so anything you can do to add humidity to your gingerbread will soften it. That's why I wrap mine in a damp paper towel before heating. If you're having humid weather in your area, then your gingerbread may soften on its own in a few days.
