Wafer/rice paper windows?

Hello! Has anyone ever tried to make semi-opaque windows?

I’m looking to make a halloween house and want to do “frosted” windows with shadow cutouts (black cat, Ghost, etc) that I’ll back light. My go-to gelatin sheets are too clear and don’t give the look I’m going for. I thought of wafer/rice paper but have never used it.

Think it will work?? Other ideas?

I've used Wafer Paper for window shades
by: Susan Rogers

I've used wafer paper for window shades, not the same thing, but it's the same concept. I made my window panes separate from the house. I poured isomalt in them and let them cool, then I torched the back of the window just slightly and attached the wafer paper. If I were to just do wafer paper windows, I would use tylose glue and smoosh the wafer paper between 2 window panes. May be able to get by with one. Make sure to not over wet the edges....that's the trickiest part.
