Using sugar cookie dough instead of gingerbread dough

I'm trying to figure out if I can make a house out of sugar cookie dough for an Easter house. I'm not sure if the sugar cookie dough would get as hard as the gingerbread or last as long.

 I use shortbread!

I make shortbread houses, so can't see why sugar cookie dough wouldn't work.
