Can you use normal icing sugar instead of "Confectioners sugar"?

Hi Gals! Ive used icing sugar and it came out pretty sweet i must say but i havent tried it with other sugars at all i might be wrong, not sure how it tastes with other sugars :)

I just read that in Britain the call it icing sugar and in the US it is called confectioners sugar. I was wondering about the difference myself.

I've read that icing sugar is just a mixture of confectioners sugar (powdered sugar) and regular granulated sugar. I would think it would work fine, with enough mixing, but I'd love to hear from someone who's tried it.
