Number of hours to build a gingerbread house
by: Kelly

Yes, I agree. The answer really depends on the size and detail of the gingerbread house you're planning. A simple house (like one of the free templates offered on this site) can easily be made and decorated in a weekend.

I do recommend splitting it up into 2 days at least. I generally mix up the dough one day and refrigerate it overnight. Then, I roll out the dough, cut out the pieces, and bake them another day. Since these need to cool completely before assembling, I often wait for another day to mix up the royal icing, assemble the house, and decorate.

These steps CAN all be done in one day though. Just make sure to give yourself enough time to make it fun and not stressful.

How many hours.....
by: Cindy

WOW......my answer would be, that would depend on the size and the amount of detail you are putting into your "house". I made my first gingerbread house last year and conservatively guessing, I spent 40 total hours on it over a period of several weeks....I had to work on it in stages.
