Gingerbread church going soft

For the last tree years I've made a gingerbread church for the grand children. By the time I've put it together and decorated it, it's been out in the very humid Auckland air and started to get soft, so badly that I wonder if it will last till Christmas. My question is: is there ANY way of drying it out and making it hard again (oven, hair dryer)?
