Can you decorate your gingerbread house walls before asembly?

I am curious if it is a good idea or not to decorate the walls of the gingerbread house prior to assembly of the house.

 Decorating before assembling...

Yes, we do... The first gingerbread house that my granddaughter and I made last year was in the Cusine Holiday Cookies magazine, 2011...and you went on line to get the pattern, which had all the decorations printed on it as well. It works well like that but ours is not too full of candy--a lot of icing decorations, too. The roof is put on after the house is put together, though.
